General Manager

The Board of Commissioners of Klickitat County Public Utility District No. 1 of Goldendale, Washington is seeking qualified candidates for the position of General Manager.

KPUD is a leader in renewable energy generation; operating a methane gas electric generation plant, part ownership in a fish friendly hydro project as well as a 200 aMw wind farm.

The General Manager reports directly to a three-member Board. Staff consists of 70 full-time employees who serve approximately 12,000 electric customers, 1,500 water/wastewater customers.

At lease five years of upper level utility management experience and a degree from a four-year accredited college or university are desirable. The Board seeks candidates who have strong negotiating skills, excellent people skills, and who are very results focused.

Candidates must have knowledge of power supply, engineering, and operations management. Must have expertise in staffing and managing an organization, finance/budgeting, goal setting, and strategic planning.

Candidates must possess excellent communication and people skills, and have a strong leadership ability. Labor contract negotiation experience and an understanding of the current Pacific Northwest utility issues are a plus.

The successful candidate must have the ability to bring innovative ideas as they relate to changes in the industry and a new competitive marketplace to the position.
