ORECA was pleased to work with the electric utility industry in support of House Bill 4046, a nuclear study bill that would commission the Oregon Department of Energy to conduct a balanced, data-driven study into the future viability of nuclear energy as a piece of Oregon’s long term energy resiliency plans. The bill passed unanimously out of the House Climate, Energy, and Environment Committee.
Other notable legislation:
- HB 4080 allows a retail electricity consumer to install and use portable solar photovoltaic energy devices with up to a total maximum generating capacity of 1,200 watts. ORECA has been working with the chief sponsor as part of utility coalition to ensure these devices are not eligible for net metering purposes.
- HB 4029 requires a solar energy contractor or person that installs a solar energy system to have a license appropriate for the scope of work the solar energy contractor or person will perform. ORECA worked in partnership with EWEB to develop this legislation with Salem Electric being a key contributor.
