ORECA sent a letter to Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm on December 7, expressing concern that the federal government’s secret agreement on the operation of the Federal Columbia River System would “jeopardize electric reliability and increase costs for over 500,000 Oregonians served by electric cooperatives.”

ORECA also spearheaded a letter on December 13 to Governor Tina Kotek from consumer-owned utility managers requesting a meeting to discuss how the agreement harms vulnerable communities. The state of Oregon has been one of the key litigants in lawsuits against the Federal Columbia River System.
